We are pleased to share that Prof. Karolina Rudnicka from the University of Lodz represented the BIO4PAK project at the NATUREEF Association conference during Warsaw Pack 2026.
During the event, Prof. Rudnicka delivered a presentation entitled “Researchers Confronting the Challenge: Translating the EIC Pathfinder Vision into Nature-Inspired Bioplastics for Food Packaging.” Her talk highlighted how the EIC Pathfinder programme supports breakthrough, high-risk innovations and how these ideas can be translated into real-world applications in sustainable packaging.
The presentation focused on the potential of microbial polymers as biodegradable, bio-based materials, as well as the role of microbiology as a key technological driver in designing functional and safe packaging solutions. It also addressed the use of bacteriophages as precise tools to enhance food safety, alongside the regulatory challenges that currently limit the large-scale implementation of such innovations in Europe.
Importantly, the talk emphasized a core principle of the BIO4PAK project: meaningful innovation emerges through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the ability to transform scientific advances into practical solutions.
We would like to thank the NATUREEF Association for the invitation and for creating a valuable platform for discussion and collaboration.
Participation in initiatives such as Warsaw Pack 2026 reinforces our commitment to co-creating the future of sustainable packaging and strengthening collaboration across the European innovation ecosystem.
